The Pinnacle (Lyndeborough, NH), June 2012

First ex utero hike for my son. There are three small peaks near each other, but one peak was enough for this day.

The trail was pleasant: mixed woods with an understory of fern.

The summit had views in several directions, including toward Mt Monadnock.

Sheep Laurel,
Kalmia angustifolia

A Hawkweed,
likely Field Hawkweed,
Hieracium caespitosum

A wrong turn led us to a lovely spot for a picnic.

Relaxing in a hayfield.

Red Clover, Trifolium pratense

Our first-time mountaineer looks a little tired.

He's well taken care of

But he's yawning as if he had walked on his own feet.

Orange Hawkweed,
Hieracium aurantiacum

Pink Lady's Slipper, Cypripedium acaule
