World’s tallest structure… for now. A taller tower is under construction elsewhere in Dubai, though the new tower won’t count as a “building”.
Dubai Marina
A rather large contrast from Madagascar – skyscrapers under construction in every direction. Seen from the shore and from a motorboat cruise.

Old Dubai
A few blocks of restored buildings, containing an art museum. Later, a visit to the spice souk and the gold souk.
“Old” in this case means a few hundred years – truly ancient by Dubai standards, where an “old” building might be twenty years old.
