Found a coot (Fulica americana) in very shallow water. |
The coot didn't seem to mind my presence. |
Grooming is a sign that a bird is starting to relax |
But the coot was still stopping once in a while to peer at me. |
Eventually it relaxed enough to turn its back |
Stretch, part one |
Stretch, part two |
And now... |
Time for more grooming |
Grooming coot |
Coot presumably feeling much better |
A cardinal high in a tree. |
People feed the geese, I don't know why. |
I hadn't seen this species of goose before. |
It looks just like a white-fronted goose... |
Except its beak is the wrong color. |
It's probably an escaped domestic goose. |
In any case, it wasn't afraid of people. |
